Before Your Appointment:
Let our team know if you are pregnant or think you might be, as certain precautions may be necessary. Also, inform us of any recent illnesses, ongoing medical conditions, or if you’ve ever had a reaction to contrast materials (should your X-ray require them).
 
What to Wear:
On the day of your X-ray at Quick Family Urgent Care, wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. X-rays can be affected by metal, so please avoid clothing with zippers, snaps, metal fasteners, or underwire bras. You may be asked to change into a clinic gown. Remember to remove jewelry, eyeglasses, hearing aids, or any other metal objects before your exam—consider leaving valuables at home.
 
Before Your X-ray:
Most patients can eat and drink as usual prior to their X-ray, unless our staff gives you specific instructions, such as fasting or avoiding certain medications. If your test involves contrast dye, our team will notify you in advance with any special preparation steps.
 
What to Bring:
Arrive a few minutes early to allow time for check-in and paperwork. Please bring a photo ID, your insurance information, and any referral forms if required. If you have previous X-rays or relevant medical records, bring these with you, or let us know where they can be accessed.

A standard X-ray appointment is fast and convenient, typically taking only about 15 to 30 minutes from start to finish. When you arrive, you’ll check in at our front desk, and if necessary, you may be asked to change into a gown for your exam. Our friendly technologist will guide you through the process, positioning you for the necessary images—which usually takes just a few minutes.
 
After the X-rays are taken, there may be a brief wait as we ensure the images are clear and meet our quality standards. Once everything is complete, you can get dressed and continue on with your day. You won’t need to wait for results at our office; your images will be promptly reviewed and sent to your referring provider or our on-site medical team for evaluation.

Some specialized X-ray studies, such as abdominal X-rays or those involving contrast materials (like a barium swallow, barium enema, or intravenous pyelogram), may require special preparation. In these cases, you might need to fast for a few hours or temporarily adjust certain medications. If your X-ray does require any extra steps, our staff will give you clear instructions ahead of time.
 
If you’re ever unsure about how to prepare, or if you have questions about your medications before your X-ray appointment, please don’t hesitate to call our office. Once your X-ray images are taken, you can usually leave our clinic within minutes. Our skilled technologists will ensure the necessary images are clear and complete before you go. Unless your healthcare provider has additional instructions or recommends further testing, there’s typically no need to wait at the clinic for your results.
 
Your X-ray images will be reviewed by a radiologist, and a detailed report will be sent to your Quick Family Urgent Care provider. Our team will then discuss the findings with you either at a follow-up appointment or by contacting you directly, so you always stay informed about your health.
 
If your X-ray required contrast dye or sedation, we may ask you to stay a bit longer for observation. However, for most standard X-rays, you’re free to go almost immediately after the procedure.
